February 18, 2025 – Lawdragon’s Meghan Hemingway recently spoke with Elsberg Baker & Maruri partner Vivek Tata about the firm’s exciting first year.
Since the firm opened its doors, Tata has helped secure wins in high-profile cases, such as the dismissal of all claims against client Sol Goldman Investments in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court.
Part of the firm’s winning strategy has been its ethos on teamwork. “One of the great things about our firm is that there's very little hierarchy,” Tata said. “We are actively mentoring people, taking the time to go over drafts and give feedback. Not just when things could be improved, but maybe more importantly, when things have been done well.”
Tata touched on what inspired him to join with his fellow partners in starting the new firm. “This was an opportunity to create something new with my partners… some of the most talented trial lawyers I'm ever going to get to practice with.” He continued, “We're bucking the trend of having multiple tiers of partnership or having a very long partnership track. We really believe that we're going to start our associates off, get them ready to practice, get them ready to be trial lawyers and in a reasonable time they'll be up for partner – which is unusual nowadays.”
